Graziano Viale was born in Northern Italy but, for many years now, has been living in Cabras, near Oristano. He spent most of his life studying the centuries-long evolution of masks within the Mediterranean culture.
In his atelier, he creates hand-made leather masks, inspired by the Sardinian tradition, also retrieving the Phoenician-Punic culture, which he studied intensely. Over the years, he got in touch with institutions and European experts promoting different kinds of art forms, especially classic and avant-garde European theatre.
He is very much requested in prestigious international festivals, like those held in Avignon, Nancy, Bremen, Goslar and Girona. Every year, he collaborates with theatre groups all over Italy and carries out training activities in many Italian schools.
