Giacomo Mameli is one of the most appreciated Sardinian master ceramists. His works are inspired by the shapes, colours and the symbolic legacy of his land, whose history features thousand-year old findings and artefacts.
He does not just retrieve and repeat tradition: he reinterprets the art of ceramics in a contemporary key, with a personal style and a keen eye. His works stem from ongoing formal research and chromatic effects from ancient firing techniques. As a creative, skilful artisan, he is one of the few ceramists able to master the art of bucchero along with maiolica and raku.
Over the years, he was awarded several prizes, among which the Premio regionale for artistic ceramics in 1987 and the “Valore Sardegna” Prize in 2010.
