Fatti ad arte (“Done to Art”) is a three-day trade show showcasing top artistic craftsmanship, taking place in Biella every year and organised by Confartigianato and CNA, under Patrizia Maggia‘s art direction. The initiative was launched in 2017 and aims at highlighting the close relationship between the historical palaces of our territory and the great Italian masters who, over the centuries, have been invited by important clients to create, preserve and restore the authentic beauties which are protected inside the palaces.
The event takes place in the historical centre of the city, called Il Piazzo, inside three magnificent buildings: Palazzo Gromo Losa, hosting the inauguration and the conferences, Palazzo Ferrero, hosting the wine and food theme and the training, and Palazzo La Marmora, where the artisans showcase their works and disclose to the public the processing steps characterising their trade. From mosaics to stained-glass windows, from restoration to woodworking, from bookbinding to violin-making, a great many areas are represented by dozens of skilful masters.
Since the very first edition, Fatti ad Arte has attracted a great number of visitors and has been able to include a number of institutions from Piedmont and other regions, like the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane, the Associazione Casse di Risparmio Italiane, Florence’s Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte, Milan’s Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, the Fondazione Antonio Carlo Monzino, promoting Italian violin- making and training institutions, including MAC – Biella’s Mestieri d’Arte Contemporanei.
