BIO

Living and working in Milan, Franz Botré fell in love with typography at a very young age and took up printing, lithography, photo-lithography and graphic design as a job until, in 1980, he became the editor, and subsequently the art director, of the Italian monthly magazine “Gente Viaggi”. He participated in planning and developing the layout of many Italian magazines, first with Rusconi, then Rizzoli and Class Publishing Houses. With the latter, he became deputy director of “Class” monthly magazine, creator and director of “Gentleman” and main art director of the whole publishing group. In 2001, he left the Class Group to create the Swan Group, his own independent publishing house focusing on excellent lifestyle. An admirer of beauty and a refined gourmet, as well as a connoisseur of fashion, elegance and world-ruling passions—men’s world in particular—he imbued his editorial style with exclusive refinement, addressing a readership of lovers and connoisseurs of beauty and good manufacture, of Made in Italy and Italian style. Thanks to his friendship and cooperation with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, he is now publishing, besides “Arbiter”, “Orologi”, and “Spirito diVino”, the magazine “Mestieri d’Arte & Design”, diffused with Arbiter, presenting great Italian and international craft trades and their major protagonists.
