Guado Urbino, led by Alessandra Ubaldi, is a fabric dyeing workshop that uses only woad, a natural pigment from the isatis tintoria, characterized by a particular blue obtained from its leaves. The plant was very common until the 17th century in many parts of Europe, then it was replaced by the cheaper indigo.
The “blue gold of Montefeltro” is offered both in the form of a dye and applied on original craft articles; the shop offers fashion accessories, scarves and stoles in silk, cotton and linen, soap, hats, costume jewellery and frames, as well as the sale of the pure pigment.
Guado Urbino offers the magic of an European pigment, forgotten for centuries, making it and its history better known.
