Nicola Monzino is a master luthier. In his artistic lutherie workshop in Milan, he builds and restores stringed instruments such as violas, violins and cellos, also providing period models’ replicas and antique musical instruments for rent. Nicola Monzino comes from a prominent family that has been active for centuries in the promotion of lutherie, collecting rare instruments and building stringed instruments. This family tradition dates back to 1750, when Antonio Monzino started selling musical instruments and established the Monzino Foundation in Milan. Today the stringed instruments production, interrupted many years ago, is making its comeback inside Nicola’s atelier – a space open to the sharing of knowledge, where the passion for high craftsmanship lutherie and the love for excellence and skilled handiwork has been rekindled. In this workshop, they also provide fine tuning services, and they also sell modern instruments and accessories. Through the Foundation, they hold classes in instrument-making, for both schools and private clients.
