Ellemme Grafiche, founded in 1989 by Michele Costantini and Luca Valonta with the aim of preserving the Venetian tradition of fine art printing, is located just a few steps from the Rialto Bridge in Venice.
For over thirty years, under the registered trademark Veneziastampa®, they have been reproducing works by famous artists in small print runs and employing a variety of printing techniques.
The print shop is equipped with all the tools to make illustrations and art prints of different kinds: two printing presses and an antique Heidelberg platen printing machine, which still allow printing with movable lead and wood typefaces, and special plates for photogravure, as well as machinery for digital and offset printing.
They also hold typography classes in their workshop to pass on this art craft and its method: from idea development to composition, from inking to actual printing, using the workshop’s wooden typefaces and hand presses.
Michele and Luca are also co-founded of cArte, the “Museo Diffuso della Carta e della Stampa” (Diffused Museum of Paper and Printing) in Venice.
