Ilaria Cazzaniga is a young luthier who graduated from the “Civica Scuola di Liuteria di Milano” (City of Milan’s Civic school of Lutherie), specialized in the restoration of string instruments. Working with wood to give way to creativity and bring life to music is her greatest passion. Her Curiosity led her to delve into scientific research in the field of musical instruments, thus earning a degree in Physics and one in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Diagnostics. Today she builds and restores string instruments in her workshop overlooking a courtyard in old Milan, which she shares with other artisans, and she also carries on her collaboration with Carlo Chiesa, which began thanks to Fondazione Cologni’s project “A School, a Job. Training to excellence”. Since 2020, she teaches Chemistry and material sciences for lutherie at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria, while also teaching string instruments building at the “Accademia di Liuteria Piemontese” (Piedmont’s Lutherie Academy).
