Luigi Castiglioni is a master bookbinder, one of the finest and most renowned in Italy. He started off as a musicologist, but he always had a strong passion for bookbinding and kept studying and practising the craft, perfecting his artistic binding skills learning from the best Italian artisans. In 1999 he founded his workshop “Anonima Amanvensis”, located in Rimini‘s historical city centre, then in 2011 he moved the atelier into his own home. Since then, he decided to focus on artistic bookbinding, working for collectors and bibliophiles: constantly researching new techniques and studying different materials, he explores a variety of styles such as weaved leather and mixed solid materials or mosaics and lacquer decorations. He also reinvented the traditional lettering and golden edging. His works have been showcased in relevant craft bookbinding exhibitions in Italy and France.
