Punto di Bianco is a studio specializing in the restoration and conservation of photographs, documents and antique books, based in Corbetta (Milan). It was born from the meeting of Floriana Mantovani, a portrait and art photographer who collaborates with the Fondazione Magnani-Rocca in Mamiano (PR) and sits on the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Passaré, and Luicia Romagnolo, a conservator specializing in preventive conservation and restoration work on volumes, film posters, works and objects on paper, photographic prints, and glass plate negatives and positives.
Each intervention begins with careful observation of the material (its fibers, light, and traces of time) in keeping with the balance between stability and memory, with the aim of preserving the authenticity of the works. The studio works with private clients, collectors and institutions, offering photograph restoration, document and archive conservation, work on antique books, and consultancy on the proper conservation of paper materials.
Notable collaborations include: the Intesa Sanpaolo Historical Archive, with the restoration of the Carte Mattioli and Privato Mattioli collections and participation in the “Archivi Aperti” public events; the Fondazione Pirelli, for conservation work on photographic collections; the Ente Morale Luparia, with the management of its book and photographic collection; and the Municipality of Frassinello Monferrato, for the Civic Library. Luicia Romagnolo also provides training for archive staff, bookbinding courses, and public talks on conservation topics.
