After being active for over a century, Valese is now the last remaining foundry in Venice. Carlo Semenzato took it over in 2006, after working there for nearly thirty years, and is one of the few artisans who are still using moulding brackets, allowing to achieve finely detailed bronze and brass creations.
His shop near San Marco showcases many objects featuring Venetian symbols, like masks, horses and lions. The foundry also produces gondola decorations, chandeliers, doorbells, knobs, and handles in different styles for home and hotel furnishings, also offering unique pieces on customers’ design. Over the years, the foundry has been appointed to produce and restore many elements of the city’s urban furnishings, including the characteristic world-renowned street lamps.
