Unfolding Paper Stories is a creative papermaking studio with a small atelier in the center of Trieste, where Annalisa Metus, a musician by training but also a craftsman-artist, designs and makes paper artifacts, in single copies or in small series. Her creations include artist books, pop-up pages, small theaters, dioramas and models, theatrical sets, installations and supports for teaching and scientific communication.
Annalisa began building her first pop-ups in 2011, and in 2014 she created a huge sonic pop-up page for her Conservatory thesis on sonic interaction design.
With great skill, inventiveness and irony, she makes real paper sculptures, which recall the world of fairy tales, her favorite subjects along with forests. The narrative aspect is central to her work and, with her hands, Annalisa is able to evoke worlds, returning tales, including personal or clients’, in the form of artist’s books and decorative works.
She also organizes workshops for adults and children, private meetings for individuals or small groups, and team-building experiences for companies, focusing on artistic papermaking.
