Stamperia Benedetti is a truly authentic workshop located in Pescia and is the custodian of a long standing tradition of over five centuries. Testimony of this is a citation on the wall in the entrance: “Francesco Cenni printed in Pescia on the 28th of February 14 85 the Confessions of Saint Bernardino of Siena, the first printed book from the first printing workshop in Pescia”. Today the workshop also undertakes modern printing works as well as traditional printing using an authentic printing press, movable type in lead and wood and a printer’s bench to compose the layout. In the workshop everything is done as it was before, composing layouts for printing using mobile type: here they print not only reproductions of antique and modern books, but also magazines, wedding invitations, visiting cards and other invitations, obviously personalised for each client.
