Since 1991, Chiara Lorenzetti has been working as a ceramics restorer in her “Chiaraarte” atelier in Biella.
She specialises in conservative and aesthetic restoration of ceramics, as well as cast, ivory, wax, papier-mâché and composite objects, with particular to antique dolls, cooperating with collectors and period toy shops. Thanks to her experience, she can also restore wooden objects, statuettes, and frames.
Over the last few years, Lorenzetti started studying the ancient Japanese Kintsugi art which aims at repairing ceramics shards with gold decorations, and is spreading its secrets through her manuals, conferences and workshops. She is also one of the very few restorers using Urushi lacquers instead of epoxy resin.
In 2007, she was awarded the “Eccellenza Artigiana” (craftsmanship excellence) prize by Piedmont region, and she obtained the qualification of Cultural heritage restorer and Restoration technician” in 2016.
