Massimo Tizzano is a self-taught oil painter who reproduces the style of the Italian and Flemish old masters. In 2010 he started to work as an assistant to Odd Nerdrum and received important commissions and recognitions for his work. In his atelier he creates perfect reproductions of great paintings with particular focus on old masters of the 16th and 17th centuries such as Titian, Rembrandt, and Caravaggio. Each work is created according to the same compositive procedure and phases used in a Renaissance artist’s studio: Massimo personally prepares the canvases and stretchers, mixes and applies his own primer, hand grinds his pigments and creates his colours and varnishes according to ancient formulae, meticulously following the techniques of each old master.
