Matteo Mazzotti is a master luthier, born in 1979.
Since childhood, he showed great interest in music. Frequenting the workshop of his grandfather Oreste Mazzocchi, famous cabinetmaker, he then had the opportunity to learn woodworking. He studied the fundamentals of lutherie and string instruments making at Istituto Stradivari in Cremona.
After his diploma, he started working as an apprentice inside master Massimo Negroni’s workshop, deepening his knowledge of the secrets of classical Cremonese violin making and polishing.
Finally, he opened his workshop in Piacenza, where today he makes and restores violins, violas and cellos according to the craft technique of the Cremonese school.
Matteo makes his instruments for a prestigious and international clientele, always starting from the accurate selection of materials, all top-quality seasoned woods such as spruce from Val di Fiemme and maple from the Balkans.
He showcased his instruments all over the world, from Italy to Germany, from China to Japan. In his atelier he also holds violin making courses and masterclasses.
