After learning the trade at Simmons Studio in New York, in 1983 Giorgetti opened her textile atelier in Milan, where she is now developing industrial printing prototypes, furnishing elements, bespoke installations and fashion advertising.
In her atelier, she creates fabrics for interiors, tapestry, clothes and small objects. Each product is studied in its smallest details and the client is offered several customising opportunities. Starting from the design, she creates handmade small-size prototypes on silk, wool, cotton or other materials, explores their colour variations and chooses the adequate printing and painting techniques.
Beside her production activity, Silvia Giorgetti is teaching at Milan’s NABA, publishing dedicated books and holding textile dying and printing courses.
