Valentina D’Amato is a Sicilian artist and textile designer. She completed her artistic studies at the Art Institute of Comiso (Textile Arts Department) and later earned a degree in Architecture from La Sapienza University in Rome. She creates artistic home décor pieces and fashion accessories entirely hand-painted. Her work goes beyond the execution of painting on fabric: at its core lies the careful design and conception of each decorative motif. Her project stems from the desire to bring her artistic patterns onto textiles (making them alive and wearable) and to craft objects with a distinctly artisanal character. Authenticity, dedication of time, mastery and uniqueness define her creations.
Her decorative language draws inspiration from art in its many forms (particularly architecture), nature with its wealth of shapes and colors, and her native land. All these influences are filtered through her personal sensibility and reinterpreted into new stylized forms where dream and reality, imagination, composition and innovation coexist within a metaphysical aesthetic. She works exclusively with high-quality fabrics: pure silk for scarves and foulards, and cottons containing no more than 30% synthetic fiber. The colors used are eco-friendly, water-based pigments, heat-set to ensure durability. Each piece is produced in limited series (alongside one-of-a-kind works) and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. Her creations have been exhibited in art galleries in Sicily (Scicli) and Indonesia (Jakarta), and are currently available in a selection of curated boutiques across Italy.
