In S. Frediano, the most authentic district of Florence, a workshop is creating hand-made wood eyewear.
The concept, by the ingenious Lisa Gabellini and Jochen Andreas Zeh, dates back to 2004: since they could not find a suitable frame for their child’s eyeglasses, they decided to make a bespoke one, with 100% natural materials. Since then, they started creating comfortable, sustainable eyewear suiting the client’s personality and style, be it a child or an adult, and made it into their permanent job.
Their frames go through 83 handmade processing steps. They are made of 11 layers of natural steam-bent wood, making them lightweight, resilient and flexible.
Each item’s lines and finishes are widely customisable with briarwood or other wood essences.
