Lace is a part of jewellery making and, in the hands of this lady from Catania who loved lace since she was a child, it becomes a delightful masterpiece. Melania La Via learned from her grandmothers the basic rudiments in the art of lace making, and today she succeeded in transforming her wealth of knowledge, skills and know-how in a jewellery line halfway between embroidery and lace. In her creations, bobbin lace, “chiacchierino” (tatting lace), macramé, filet, god thread embroidery, needle lace, crochet and Tenerife-style lace play with pearls, beads and corals.
