Preserving a precious knowledge

I met Elena during the project DOMO – 19th Biennale of Sardinian craftsmanship, which was awarded the prestigious Compasso D’oro prize in 2011. Her professional and personal qualities won me over from the very beginning. Together we conceived an item which would join the art of weaving to another typical element of her home town, Urzulei: asphodel’s fibre, which is traditionally used to create baskets and “corbule” (traditional handle-free baskets) of simple and refined beauty. Since then, we had many chances to collaborate, united by the passion for the same art and the desire to preserve a knowledge which is so precious for our land.
