Adelart is Adel Torok’s paintings, paper and old books restoration workshop.
Hungarian by birth, after studying restoration at the University of Fine Arts in Budapest she moved to Florence, where she furthered her training alongside Stefano Scarpelli, an art restorer. She then flew to Oxford, where she worked on the binding and restoration of ancient books, maps and parchments.
With this wealth of experience, it was time to re-establish herself in Italy, this time permanently, in Segrate, a village in the province of Milan, where her atelier is now based.
This is a real ‘home-workshop’, where Adel carries out painting restoration and cleaning, as well as binding and conservation works on books and their damaged parts, photographs and paper artefacts. Adel also offers frame repair and gilding services, and she designs interior decorations and creates art objects on commision.
Adel firmly believes that every piece, prestigious or not, has great value, and deserves to be appreciated and treated with care, to restore its former glory.
