Artkeo was founded in Osasio, in the province of Turin, from the convergence of two deep-seated interests of its founder, Patrizia Nicotera: expertise in molding techniques, acquired during her studies, and a parallel passion for archaeology. This duality is also the source of the company’s name, a synthesis of “Art” and “Archaeology,” which refers back to the original field of application of molding: the reproduction of archaeological artifacts through casting.
Her training at the Academy of Fine Arts sparked a love for foundry techniques, focusing her attention on the creation of casts in every form, size, and material. Building on this foundation, hands-on experience and a constant experimental attitude progressively extended the use of molding techniques to multiple fields: archaeology, museology, scenography, and architecture.
Artkeo’s work centers on the hyperrealistic reproduction, on commission, of objects and dioramas, achieved through the calibrated use of patinas and a range of materials — resins, jesmonite, plaster, polystyrene, wood — chosen according to the characteristics of the original and the intended use of the copy. This handcraftsmanship is complemented by digital surveying and production tools: point-based three-dimensional scanning technology (3D scanning) and numerically controlled systems make it possible to integrate artisanal processing with rapid prototyping, expanding the precision and repeatability of the result.
The reproductions, scenographic installations, and inclusive educational three-dimensional aids produced by Artkeo are today sought after by museums and clients worldwide, confirming how specialized artisanal knowledge can respond to complex and varied design needs.
