Daughter of the renowned cartoonist Guido Crepax, Caterina was raised in an environment rich in fantasy and beauty. An interior and graphic designer, today she works as an artist using primarily paper to create sculptures, wearable elements for fashion shows and theatrical performances, stage scenery for exhibitions and events, and also follows special projects in schools of fashion and design. Her most well-known pieces are sumptuous and refined garments “sculpted” with paper and with surprising details and made from recycled and every day materials mixed with handmade Oriental paper. Thus, paper becomes a precious “material” which transmits elegance and levity whilst remaining environmentally sustainable.
The former Guido Crepax and his wife’s studio in Via de Amicis in Milan now houses “Archivio Crepax”, which is manged by the artist’s sons Caterina, Antonio and Giacomo; as well Caterina’s workshop with her paper artworks.
In 2018, Caterina Crepax was awarded the MAM – Maestro d’Arte e Mestiere accolade.
