Fornace Carbone is a craft company specialised in the production of artefacts in terracotta of Impruneta, an important local tradition with an ancient and renowned history.
In this workshop, founded and run by Massimo Carbone, together with Francesca Fontanelli, terracotta wine amphorae are made completely by hand, without the use of moulds or machinery. Each jar can therefore be tailor-made to the specific requirements of each customer, who can request customised micro-oxygenation and absorption parameters.
Each piece is unique and is made exclusively from authentic Impruneta clay, using traditional working techniques. These artefacts are particularly suitable for storing wine, thanks to the characteristics of the local clay, which once transformed into terracotta has controlled porosity, frost resistance and insulating properties. Each container, however, has unique characteristics and is the result of careful study and great manual skills. Working such an ancient material in a workmanlike manner means rediscovering a thousand-year-old tradition and enhancing a natural, valuable and timeless material.
