Giordano Viganò‘s workshop is in Novedrate, in the Brianza region, a place known in the whole world for its excellence in furniture design. There, Viganò creates his own perfect prototypes designed by famous architects and designers: Kuramata’s chests of drawers for Cappellini, which are still in production, are just one example of the master’s versatility. In fact, he frequently puts his art and profession at the disposal of important names such as Sawaya and Moroni, Giorgetti, Studio Vitruvio, Porro, Promemoria and architects as Carlo Rampazzi, Peter Marino. When visiting his workshop, the scent of wood and the carpenters’ ancient gestures reveal a technically advanced and stylistically open vision. This vision is on a par with the highest contemporary design. However, Giordano never forgets the essence of the beauty in this precious material. The small and extremely precious objects created by Viganò embody the poetry of masterpieces: portable ebony and galuchat chess sets, wood and precious leather pochettes, superiorly elegant wood and leather desk sets with bone finish. His large palm wood tables are also marvellous. He also makes special creations, always trying to go beyond limits. Viganò is a true interpreter. He is always looking for novelty and always finds motivating sensations. His enthusiasm is best expressed in his collaborations with young people, designers, and architects.
