Mirta Morigi is a master ceramist from Faenza. After attending “G. Ballardini” Ceramic Art School and completing her training as an apprentice, in 1973 she opened her workshop, located in the courtyard of Palazzo Barbavara. Today, and for almost 40 years now, Mirta Morigi works alongside her assistants inside the same studio: a repository of Faenza’s ceramic tradition, but above all a container of ideas. Her colourful decorative items and furnishings stand out for their pop and ironic style, strong language and pure, brilliant tones without nuances, as well as for the presence of tiny animals peeking out of her pieces, making them truly unmistakeable. Her artworks can be found in public and private collections and have been showcased all around the world: from Australia to India and China, from Corea to Japan. Since 2011 she has become a member of “IAC – Accademia Internazionale della Ceramica” (International Academy of Ceramics).
