Sofia Marchesin is a professional restorer licensed by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. She studied Restoration at Venice’s Fine Art Academy, later specializing in the restoration of canvas and wooden paintings as well as polychromatic wooden statues at “Scuola Laboratori di Eccellenza Istituti Santa Paola” (Excellence Workshops School of Santa Paola’s Institutes) in Mantua. After gaining experience by training in various workshops, she opened her own in 2013: RestauroLab. Driven by love for the trade, passion and curiosity, she constantly learns new techniques to take care of our artistic heritage. Today she works as a freelancer throughout Italy and abroad, dealing with each step of an item’s restoration, from the initial status analysis to the actual conservative intervention.
