Giovanni Ferrito is a master goldsmith from Messina. His passion for precious metal processing started at a young age, when his father took him to visit a friend’s workshop. Fascinated by the magical atmosphere of the atelier, at only 6 years old he decided he wanted to become a goldsmith.
Besides, artistic talent and manual skills ran in the family: as an adult, Giovanni started his adventure in the world of jewellery, learning the most important techniques as a self-taught artist and initially making wax prototypes for goldsmiths and silversmiths.
In 2001 he opened his Bottega Orafa in Randazzo, a small town near Catania, on the slopes of mount Etna. Today in his workshop he gives life to unique creations, mainly resorting to the lost-wax technique, tending to each of the processing stages, from design to finishing, including micro-casting. His inspiration comes from his homeland and its traditional symbols, but he also crafts jewels on commission, according to the taste and requests of each client. He also carries out restoration work and provides replicas of vintage models.
