After completing her diploma as Maestro d’Arte Applicata in Ceramics, Erminia Guarino — class of 1980 — started to experiment with clay in a workshop in Praia a Mare inherited from her father who was also a ceramics afficionado. Through her profound knowledge of various techniques of working and decorating clay, she creates highly original and innovative objects: decorative vases, ornaments, candleholders and table accessories which she models by hand and then decorates with slipware techniques, glazes and oxides. She incessantly experiments with innovative techniques to create new and always unique pieces. She also makes commissioned sweet boxes, decorative panels, floor and wall tiles, shop signs in high and low relief, lamps and other furnishing accessories.
