Lorenzo Rossi is a Master maker of bow instruments. He is an expert in the realization of modern instruments such as violins, violas and cellos. He creates instruments modeled inspired from the Milanese school as well as reproductions of antique instruments. He selects the wood himself, uses animal-derived glue and prepares oil paints amber-based, according to personal recipes refined after years of experimental research. He studied at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan, obtaining the Diploma of “Specialization in bow instruments making” with the highest mark. Since 2008, he has been teaching “Bow instruments making” at the same school that he graduated from. He deepened his training in restoration with Maestro Carlos Arcieri in New York. He also won numerous awards, including two silver medals (categories violin and cello) at the National Competition of Pisogne, and a third place with his cello in the XIII International “Trienniale” Competition of Violin Making Antonio Stradivari 2012. In his workshop, the needs of the musician come first: tuning is a delicate moment that fascinates him. Along with the customer, he searches for the perfect balance between the instrument’s potential and the musician’s personal tastes in terms of acoustics and comfort. The workshop is also available for a free evaluation of the instruments, as well as repair, maintenance, and customized set-up.
