Lucia Volentieri opened her first ceramic workshop in Poggibonsi in 1989, after completing her studies at Siena’s Art School and Florence Fine Art Academy, where she specialized in set design. As soon as she decided to open her own business, she immediately started experimenting with different ceramic and porcelain processing techniques, exploring the possible combinations with other materials like iron and brass.
In 1992 she moved her atelier to Castellina in Chianti, near Siena, where she still lives and works, developing artistic projects and giving life to her artworks. Her production nowadays mainly focuses on ceramics, but also includes porcelain items and brass sculptures.
Her love and awe for the Tuscan countryside inspired the series “Paesaggi Modulari” (Modular Landscapes): ceramic cubes which can be combined to compose a landscape. In 2007 she won the “Premio Duccio” award.
