Moulaye Niang, also known as ‘Muranero’, is a master glassmaker with over 20 years of experience.
During his studies at the Abate Zanetti Glass School in Murano, he learnt the techniques of glassmaking, from the creation of large sculptures in the furnace to the lampworking of typical Venetian beads, under the guidance of Pino Signoretto and Davide Salvadore.
After graduating, he decided to follow his passion for handicrafts and Venetian beads, and in 2004 he opened his business and his atelier in Venice, in the Castello area: today, together with his wife Alice, he creates glass jewellery, accessories and chandeliers, colourful and unique in their style and design, combining shapes and shades in an original and unpredictable way.
His creations are the result of the encounter between his African roots, his adopted European culture and the magical atmosphere of Venice. Today’s piece is handmade in her atelier using the lampworking technique, and is therefore unique and unrepeatable. The artefacts are mainly made to order, and can therefore be customised in every detail.
He also holds training courses, demonstrations and workshops on glass processing in his workshop.
In this small place of work and experimentation, Moulaye and Alice keep a thousand-year-old tradition alive, promoting the technique and innovating its design and style.
