For over a century, the Florentine Pagliai family has been crafting and restoring silver, an art that they passed on to third-generation Maestro Paolo Pagliai, who is continuing the family’s tradition.
His workshop near Ponte Vecchio is a reference point for both private clients like antique dealers and collectors and for Institutions for Artistic Heritage conservation. The workshop offers silverware restoration and polishing as well as selling vintage items or their own creations. Furthermore, they perform engravings and customised works on demand and replicate items from antique tableware.
High-quality workmanship that stood the test of time and is still appreciated worldwide is being passed on through the generations by expert craftsmen able to keep an enduring heritage of traditions alive.

The Pagliais are a real Italian excellence in the field of bespoke silver products and silver restoration. Indeed, a masterpiece by the grandfather of the current owner of the atelier is exhibited in the Museum of Silver in Florence: the “mescitoio del Tritone” (a jug used to wash the hands at the table in the Renaissaince era), an astonishing fish-shaped jug and sculpture. The artisans replicate ancient objects, as well as new ones, on request. Every piece is handmade and in silver. In the atelier, visitors will find unique vintage pieces as well, made of silver or Sheffield plate.

Everybody knows him, everybody has an anecdote to report, thanks to signora Raffaella, an amiable chatterbox – in the best sense of the word! - who can tastefully recommend restorations, refurbishments and ancient or modern silverware. The real genius, though, is her husband, quietly creating in the back-shop the artworks we all know and admire. And, with their daughter Stefania now definitively entered into full swing in the “bottega”, it is even more pleasant to exchange a few words and see the new pieces, featuring copper and brass along with silver.
