Ago & Filo Chic is Idona Foi’s embroidery atelier located in Martignacco, in the outskirts of Udine. After more than 15 years of experience working for companies specialized in men’s sartorial clothing, Iduna opened her own business in 2015: a tailor workshop specializing in artistic embroidery, where refined and custom garments are adorned with haute-couture embroidered details, crafted using either the needle or tambour techniques, with flair and inventiveness.
Her favoured technique, however, is free-hand machine embroidery, which allows a great deal of creativity and freedom in terms of expression, colours and sizes.
Thanks to this technique, Iduna uses her sewing machine like a painter’s brush, giving life to figures and landscapes able to tell stories and spark emotions.
Her embroideries are real works of art featuring meticulously executed details, some of which even became pictures or tapestries and were showcased at major artistic craftsmanship exhibitions.

I lavori di Iduna sono sorprendentemente perfetti ed armonici, i decori cuciti a macchina libera esaltano e valorizzano i vestiti sui quali vengono applicati. Il suo è un lavoro pittorico: attraverso la giustapposizione di filati colorati riesce a rendere le sfumature, i volumi e il dinamismo dei soggetti che ricama. Ma non parliamo solo di filati, ci sono perle e perline, Swarovski ed altri elementi che rendono tridimensionale la superficie trattata: se inizialmente il lavoro, da pittorico, assume i connotati del mosaico contemporaneo, poi ri-allontanando lo sguardo ci si rende conto che è “solo” un fantastico dettaglio di un vestito, anch’esso realizzato dalle sue sapienti mani!
