La Cornice is Andrea Milia’s handcrafted frame workshop.
The small atelier is located in the heart of Trieste, in the historic Old Town district.
Son of an artist, Andrea came into contact with the craft as a child by frequenting his father’s cabinetmaker’s workshop, regularly visited by the city’s artists, and grew up surrounded by works of art, paintings and wood essences.
Then, in the early 1980s, he trained in the workshop, learning woodworking and decoration techniques such as marquetry and carving, gilding, patination and restoration. Today, the master framer has over forty years of experience in the field of cabinetmaking and, in addition to handcrafting custom-made frames from raw wood, he also undertakes expert finishing to create the perfect frame for each customer.
His workshop is a kaleidoscopic space, filled with tools of the trade, materials and creations on display, where wood becomes a work of art through his skillful hands.
