Carla Ballerini is an expert restorer specialized in gilding, silvering, lacquering and artistic decoration of wood and iron surfaces.
Her passion runs in the family: her father Giovanni and uncle Giorgio opened their workshop in 1957, in Piacenza. Since childhood, Carla loved to hang out there and gladly watched them working. After a diploma in business studies, in 1994 she started working in her father’s workshop, where she remained for 17 years. From her father she learned the secrets of decorating and restoring artworks, sacred and otherwise, employing lacquering and faux marble techniques.
Today in her atelier she carries out these interventions on commission, according to the client’s requests and taste: based on each object’s characteristics, she carefully evaluates the most appropriate finish for its enhancement and the necessary conservative restoration interventions to perform, always in keeping with the original workmanship.
